Liberal Arts Curriculum

The Classical Magnet School offers a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for success at a competitive four-year liberal arts college.

Students are required to take the 5 core Classical courses each year:

  • Latin
  • Rhetoric/English
  • Philosophy/History
  • Science
  • Mathematics

In addition, students complete courses in:

  • Art
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Physical Education and Health

Our integrated curriculum utilizes the Paideia method of instruction which emphasizes active student learning. Classical teachers serve as coaches as students work cooperatively on intellectual projects and engage in seminars around authentic text. Additionally students participate in coached projects which are are multi-subject projects that are then presented to the community such as: The Rennaisance Faire, Crimes Against Humanity, Underground Railroad, The Golden Age of Athens, The Roaring 20's, The Trial of Julius Caesar.
